Laura Schoen

Chief Healthcare Officer

Laura Schoen is the Chief Healthcare Officer for IPG DXTRA, overseeing the group’s healthcare portfolio. Laura is responsible for driving the strategy and integrated capabilities for all agencies within the IPG DXTRA collective.

Laura Schoen is an accomplished senior healthcare communications executive with experience building and growing businesses.  She started her career at IPG in 2000 and has built Weber Shandwick’s Health practice. Additionally, Laura was also in charge of the development the healthcare ecosystem for Weber Shandwick which includes brands like dna communications, Current Health and ReviveHealth. 

Early in her tenure at the company, Laura recognized the need to create a better understanding of the impact of scientific breakthroughs on patient’s lives. She built teams of PhD and MD science communicators around the world, who help clients advance their business goals. The practice has established a global reputation for unparalleled science communications and for creating campaigns that engage stakeholders, shape perceptions and change behaviors. The practice represents some of the world’s most admired biopharmaceutical companies, managed care organizations, health systems and NGOs and has been recognized by the industry as “Best Healthcare Agency in North America” and “Best Healthcare Consultancy in the World” and has won many prestigious SABRE, Clio and Cannes Lions awards.

A frequent lecturer and writer about healthcare communications, Laura is a passionate advocate for the urgent need to rebuild trust in the healthcare industry.  She has judged and presented at Cannes Lions Health and serves on the board for the Coalition for Healthcare Communication (CHC).  Laura has been named to the 2017 Medical Marketing & Media’s  “Hall of Femme” List, PRWeek 2020 Hall of Femme and PRWeek Healthcare Influencer, a group of professionals who are changing the game in healthcare.

She earned a B.A. in Journalism and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania.
